The Government launches modern workplace consultation
This outlines at least four proposed changes to employment law – focusing on flexible parental leave, flexible working, the Working Time Regulations and equal pay.
Among the proposals, parents would be allowed to take parental leave together and in blocks throughout the year, rather than all in one go as is the current rule. The right to request flexible working would also be extended to all employees, and not just those with children or caring responsibilities.
Other changes proposed include allowing workers who become ill while on holiday to reclaim their annual leave, while those on long-term sick leave will continue to accrue holiday.
Another expected proposal is to require businesses to carry out equal pay audits if they have been found guilty of discrimination by an Employment Tribunal.
