Routine HSE Inspections to be cut by One Third

The number of proactive workplace safety inspections carried out by HSE and local authorities will drop sharply under new government plans designed to ‘restore common sense’ to Britain’s health and safety system and ease regulatory burdens on business.

The move is part of new measures announced in March by the government as the ‘next steps’ in its reform of  all safety law; confirmation of plans to force businesses in breach of the law to meet the costs of HSE inspections; new online packages designed to help low risk SMEs comply with their legal duties.
CEDAR has always encouraged a professional, proportionate and a knowledgeable approach to managing safety in the workplace. These recommendations support our aims and we look forward to consulting further with our members.
