Automotive manufacturer fined 400 000 pounds sterling after a father of two dies at work

Swansea Crown Court heard how an employee had gone onto the factory floor to issue instructions to a fork lift operator. As he had finished speaking, the truck reversed into him, knocking him to the floor. He sustained fatal head injuries and died three days later.

A HSE inspector said ‘it’s fairly routine for fork-lift trucks to operate within the same area as pedestrians in this industry. However working procedures and systems need to be in place to prevent vehicles colliding with people.
